Tras has developed a kit of lightweight natural fibres and carbon composite hybrid rally body parts for the Toyota Hilux. The parts are developed for motorsports use cases, such as the FIA Asia Cross-Country Rally 2022 and 2023, where the parts have been in use. We have confirmed that the parts can be used in the harsh conditions of a cross-country rally. Using natural fiber prepreg and carbon prepreg to manufacture hybrid-type parts requires advanced technology. It is possible to reduce CO2 emissions by as much as 40% compared to carbon composite products. The part price includes a special clear coating to protect the flax for natural fiber structure.
